BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥 The 欧美视频 Department of Music will present the Wind Symphony and University Band in concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.
Both ensembles are under the direction of Dr. Brian Hopwood, professor of music and director of instrumental studies.
The University Band will perform works by composers Harold Bennett (a.k.a. Henry Fillmore), Rick Kirby, Johannes Brahms, Robert Jager and Frank Ticheli. Guest student conductors include senior music education majors Carie Parker, Cameron Collins, Austin Bryant, Austin Hicks and Chantel Biddinger.
The Wind Symphony鈥檚 performance is a tribute to Leonard Bernstein. 鈥淏ernstein at 100鈥 is the world-wide celebration of the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein, the composer, conductor, educator, musician, cultural ambassador and humanitarian. 鈥淥verture to Candide,鈥 鈥淢ake Our Garden Grow鈥 (from Candide), 鈥淔our Dances鈥 from 鈥淲est Side Story鈥 and 鈥淪lava!鈥 are the Bernstein works included in the concert, along with the premiere performance of 鈥淰illage Suite,鈥 an original composition by senior music education major, Dylan Pich, who will conduct the work.
The performance is free and open to the public.
