欧美视频 University Band joined by Bolivar Middle School 7th, 8th grade band in concert

The 欧美视频 Department of Music presents the University Band in concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 17, in Pike Auditorium on the 欧美视频 campus. The ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Brian K. Hopwood, will be joined by the Bolivar Middle School 7th and 8th grade band, conducted by Steve McClard and John Trew.

The performance opens with Clifton Williams鈥� 鈥淒edicatory Overture,鈥� written for the dedication of the new music building at the University of Evansville in Indiana in 1963. A set of Renaissance dances, 鈥淔anfare, Ode and Festival,鈥� arranged by Bob Margolis, will be performed along with 鈥淥n a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss,鈥� a classic work for concert band by David Holsinger that is based on the hymn 鈥淚t is Well with My Soul.鈥� Also included is a suite of old French songs, including 鈥淚n the Forest of the King鈥� by Pierre La Plante and John Philip Sousa鈥檚鈥淔ugue on Yankee Doodle.鈥�
