BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥 The 欧美视频 Department of Music welcomes Dr. Lok Ng, who will present a guest artist piano recital at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, in the Meyer Recital Hall of the Casebolt Music Building on the Bolivar campus.
Dr. Ng will also present a master class with 欧美视频 piano students at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9 in Meyer Recital Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.
She will be performing Beethoven鈥檚 32 Variations, Liszt鈥檚 鈥淒ante Sonata,鈥 Busoni鈥檚
鈥淐armen Sonatina,鈥 and the monumental Brahms Paganini Variations.
Dr. Ng was born in Beijing, China, where she began her piano studies at a very early age. By age 11, she was studying at the Central Conservatory of Beijing, the most prestigious music school in China. Immigrating to the United States in 1992, she earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, a doctorate at the University of North Texas and a professional studies certificate at the Manhattan School of Music.
Dr. Ng has been a prizewinner at several piano competitions, including second place at the Liszt-Garrison International Piano Competition and finalist at the American Prize.
She previously taught on the piano faculties of Skidmore College, the College of Saint Rose and Union College. She currently is an assistant professor of music at Truman State University and piano faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp during the summer.
