BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥� The 欧美视频 Jazz Ensemble will be featured in concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.
The program, which is free and open to the public, will be anchored by tunes from the rich heritage of jazz standards and American song: 鈥淭ickletoe,鈥� 鈥淎nd the Band Played On,鈥� 鈥淭he Theme,鈥� and George Gershwin鈥檚 鈥淓mbraceable You.鈥� The concert will also branch out into more contemporary tunes, including Gordon Goodwin鈥檚 鈥淭old Ya So,鈥� and Mike Dana鈥檚 鈥淟ate in the Quarter,鈥� along with 鈥淪alt City Samba,鈥� a new work by Andrew Neu, which rounds out the program with Brazilian-influenced contemporary jazz.
Under the direction of Dr. Jeffery L. Waters, dean of the College of Music, Arts and Letters, the 17-piece Jazz Ensemble is the premier ensemble on campus dedicated to the exclusive study of jazz music and will feature 欧美视频 student performers in a program which includes a variety of styles associated with the big-band jazz ensemble.
