Brittany Earl receives CGC Nations Award

Brittany Earl was awarded the Center for Global Connection鈥檚 Nations Award at Southwest Baptist University鈥檚 chapel service on Sept. 19.

鈥淭his is an award given to a selected 欧美视频 employee who has exemplified a heart and passion for missions and is involved with students, faculty, staff and many others in the area of global service and ministry,鈥 said Diana Gallamore, director of the Center for Global Connections.

brittany.earl.nations.awardEarl, 欧美视频 visit and event coordinator in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, led many missions projects during her time as a student at 欧美视频 with Living Water to El Salvador and Nicaragua. During her time as resident director of Beasley Hall, she led trips to Ethiopia and Indonesia. Most recently, in May 2016, she led a trip to Guatemala with her husband, Todd, to build a house.

鈥淚f I could tell students one thing, it would be to go on a mission,鈥 Earl said. 鈥淣ot because you will solve world tragedies, but because you will be forever changed. Jesus said the greatest of these commandments is to love one another. To love others well is truly the sweetest of gifts.鈥

As a part of the annual Global Connections Week, in which upcoming CGC mission projects are announced, the chapel service also featured a message from Dr. Duke Jones, associate provost of university effectiveness, professor of Christian education, and CGC leader for Thailand.

Dr. Jones used Matthew 28 to encourage students to go on missions and make disciples. He challenged students to think about how they can demonstrate Jesus鈥 love to those around them by asking the question, 鈥淚s Jesus in you?鈥

鈥淢issions is never about you,鈥 Jones said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 about being so focused on Christ and where he wants you to be that that鈥檚 what you鈥檙e willing to do; whatever it takes to get over there and do what He鈥檚 asking you to do.鈥

The CGC has mission projects planned for winter, spring and summer 2017 to destinations across the globe such as Lithuania, Guatemala and Zimbabwe.
