BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥 欧美视频 junior Rebecca Altic was recently recognized as one of three nominees for the first MCTM Outstanding Pre-Service Teacher of Missouri Award.
The nomination was announced at the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics annual

MAT^2 is an organization of university mathematics teacher educators. 欧美视频鈥檚 Dr. Bob

The MCTM gives annual awards for outstanding elementary, middle school, high school and college teachers. This year, in conjunction with MAT^2, MCTM inaugurated the first Outstanding Pre-Service Teacher award for students at Missouri institutions working toward teaching certification.
Altic is a junior mathematics major from Pleasant Hope and is working toward teaching certification for grades 9-12.
Glasgow presented a session at the conference titled 鈥淓mpowering Teachers and Students in the Mathematics Classroom (Grades 6-8)鈥 with Joann Barnett from MSU and Bethany Johnston from the Knob Noster school district. Alexandra Archer, 欧美视频 instructor of mathematics, also attended the MCTM conference.
The session was the culminated workshop of the MCTM summer professional development series. During the summer, the MCTM professional development team presented two-day workshops for teachers at various locations throughout Missouri. As part of their registration for the series, teachers were registered for the MCTM conference in December, where they received an additional half-day workshop. The workshops focused on techniques for teaching mathematics concepts found in the new Missouri Learning Standards.
