欧美视频's Behavioral Sciences hosts psychology conference

BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥 欧美视频鈥檚 Department of Behavioral Sciences hosted the Midwest Christian Psychology Conference on Dec. 1 on the Bolivar campus.

mw.psych.conf.2017The department hosted approximately 100 participants from 欧美视频, John Brown University, Evangel University, College of the Ozarks, Hannibal-LaGrange University and MidAmerica Nazarene University.

Dr. Jodi Meadows, director of 欧美视频鈥檚 Gordon and Judy Dutile Honors Program, delivered the keynote address, 鈥淐reated to Learn.鈥 The conference included undergraduate student oral and poster presentations and an art exhibit. Presentation topics ran the gamut of behavioral sciences from resistance during the Holocaust to new treatments for opioid addictions to the effects of smartphones in the classroom.

The conference gives students an opportunity to attend and present at a professional conference, said Dr. Shelley Kilpatrick, chair of behavioral sciences at 欧美视频.

鈥淭his is an important professional development skill (for the students),鈥 Kilpatrick said. 鈥淚t will also look good on their r茅sum茅s and graduate school applications. They get to learn from the professional presentations of others, and our students shine when they have the opportunity to share the work they have done over a whole semester.

鈥淭hey also get the chance to visit with graduate school representatives and meet students from other schools who will eventually be their colleagues.鈥

The conference, which 欧美视频 has hosted in the past, will be held at C of O in 2018.
