BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥 The 欧美视频 Department of Music welcomes guest artists Dr. Martin McCain and Dr. Artina McCain as they perform solo and duo repertoire for trombone and piano at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, in the Meyer Recital Hall of the Casebolt Music Building on the Bolivar campus.
The McCains also will host an Arts Entrepreneurship presentation at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 22, which will be open to the public, as well as host masters classes and lectures for 欧美视频 music students later that afternoon.
Known for its eclectic programming, the McCain Duo presents programs of rhythmic, musical and colorful artistry. The duo performs nationally and internationally at festivals, concert series and universities. Most recently, the duo performed at the Zagreb Brass Festival, Hong Kong Radio Television, The Great American Brass Band Festival and American Trombone Workshop. Its recordings have been broadcast in China, Arizona, Tennessee, Texas, Chicago and Canada.
The duo has a passion for commissioning new works by emerging contemporary composers, and recently received Global Music Awards medals for the CDs 鈥淪hades鈥 and 鈥淭rombone Czar.鈥 Its program, Raise the Bar, brought professional concerts to more than 1,000 youth throughout Texas.
Dr. Martin McCain is an associate professor of trombone at Texas State University, and Dr. Artina McCain is an assistant professor of piano at the University of Memphis. The McCains serve on the faculty for the Austin Chamber Music Festival, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and the PRIZM Ensemble International Chamber Music Festival.
