BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥� 欧美视频鈥檚 Dr. Kevin Hopkins, professor and chair of the 欧美视频 Department of Mathematics, presented at the Interface 2019 Professional Development Event, which was held Feb. 21-26 at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Mo.

Hopkins presented a session on Feb. 22 at the Interface A (grades K-6) event, and on Feb. 24 at the Interface B (grades 7-12) event, titled 鈥淢ath Games for All Ages.鈥� The session covered how many games require critical thinking and math ideas. Session attendees learned about Set, KenKen, Shikaku, and binary puzzles, and heard ideas on how games can be used to teach students the value of clear definitions, perseverance, constructing and critiquing arguments.

鈥淚nterface was celebrating 35 years of mathematics and science professional learning,鈥� Hopkins said. 鈥淚 have presented nine of those 35 years during my 30 years at 欧美视频. It is always an encouragement to work with teachers and to see their willingness to learn new things. It is also gratifying to run into former students and see them working as teachers.鈥�
