BOLIVAR, Mo. — Caleb Rutledge and Hannah King were announced as the 2018 Southwest Baptist University Homecoming King and Queen at halftime of the Bearcats’ football game against Missouri S&T on Sept. 29.
Students nominated five seniors as candidates for Homecoming King and five candidates for Homecoming Queen.
Rutledge is an interdisciplinary studies major from Willow Springs. He is the son
of Cassie and Chris Rutledge. After graduation, he plans to marry Josie Linder and
attend law school in the fall of 2019.
King is an exercise science major from Colcord, Okla. She is the daughter of Angela and Eric King. After graduation, she plans to attend physical therapy school.
King candidates
Steven Kurz is a religion and philosophy major from Sanford, Fla. He is the son of Bill and Karyn Kurz. After graduation, he plans to earn a Ph.D. in philosophy.
Curtis Plott is an organizational and strategic communication major from Anna, Ill. He is the son of Allen and Becky Plott. After graduation, he hopes to find a job in radio, striving to be a mediator in society through communications.
Joshua Reisner is an interdisciplinary studies major from Tulsa, Okla. He is the son of Lori and Mark Reisner. After graduation, he plans to attend physical therapy school at Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ.
Tyler Dickenson is an exercise science major from Bolivar. He is the son of Mistie and Eric Dickenson. After graduation, he plans to get a job and pursue the Lord.
Queen candidates
Shelby Barta is an environmental biology major from Basehor, Kan. She is the daughter of Debbie and Kim Barta. After graduation, she wants to explore nature, work at a zoo and get a Ph.D.
Rachel Rawlings is an exercise science major from Hannibal. She is the daughter of Kristin Rawlings. After graduation, she plans to obtain certification for personal training and exercise physiology and work in a cardiac rehabilitation setting.
Samantha Martin is a marketing major from Dardenne Prairie. She is the daughter of Debbie and David Martin. After graduation, she plans to marry Colton Masters and find a job in advertising.
Maggie Evans is an elementary education major from Pittsburg, Kan. She is the daughter of Leetha and Mike Evans. After graduation, she plans to attend the Kanakuk Institute.
In addition, princes and princesses for the freshman, sophomore and junior classes were chosen by their peers.

Mark Liggett is a freshman communication major from New Haven. He is the son of Sue and Bruce Liggett.
Chance Bedell is a sophomore interdisciplinary studies major from Odessa, Mo. He is the son of Liz Bedell.
Ethan Bond is a junior exercise science major from Crete, Neb. He is the son of Jennifer and Kyle Bond.
Princesses
Abigail Johnson is a freshman nursing major from Harrison, Ark. She is the daughter of Kim and Bob Johnson.
Tobi Barta is a sophomore social work major, with a biblical studies minor, from Basehor, Kan. She is the daughter of Debbie and Kim Barta.
Angela Boutross is a junior organizational and strategic communication major from Bates City. She is the daughter of Sandra and Patrick Boutross.
