BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥� 欧美视频 has added a degree in digital marketing that will give graduates a competitive edge in an emerging field.
The bachelor鈥檚 degree adds computer information science courses to a blend of business, marketing and graphic design courses that already are part of a traditional marketing degree.
鈥淲e have a fantastic computer and information science program at 欧美视频 and are pleased that our digital marketing students will be able to benefit from the expertise of our CIS faculty,鈥� said Dr. Angie Brown-Peterson, assistant professor of business administration and chair of the Department of Business Administration. 鈥淭he most unique aspect of this degree is providing creative students with the computer information science skills that they need to implement digital marketing efforts. This addition will ensure that students are well-prepared for jobs in the growing field of digital marketing.鈥�
The Digital Marketing Institute predicts that there will be 150,000 digital jobs by 2020 鈥� and not enough digital professionals to fill them. Mondo, the largest national staffing agency specializing in high-end, niche IT, tech and digital marketing talent, says that demand for digital marketing professionals will rise by 38 percent this year.
鈥淚 don鈥檛 know of any other universities in the Midwest that have a digital marketing degree,鈥� Brown-Peterson said. 鈥淭his is the type of degree our students are wanting. Current and future college students are digital natives. They are immersed in technology and want to use their digital knowledge to help businesses and non-profit organizations flourish. They are full of great ideas, and this degree will help them learn how to apply those ideas in an impactful way.鈥�
