欧美视频 announces Fall 2017 Chapel schedule

BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥 欧美视频 welcomes students, staff and the community to fall semester Chapel services, which take place weekly at 10 a.m. on campus in Pike Auditorium beginning Monday, Aug. 21 through Wednesday, Dec. 6. The focus for the coming school year is 鈥淩eforming鈥 Faith, Life and Thought.鈥

Chapel services, which occur on Mondays and Wednesdays, feature corporate worship and encouragement, as well as focus on teaching and equipping.

Monday, Aug. 21: 欧美视频 alumni Zach Atchley and Nate Jones continue their tradition of opening each semester with musical praise and worship.

Wednesday, Aug. 23: Convocation is the formal beginning of the academic year and a time to focus on traditions that have become a part of 欧美视频.

Monday, Aug. 28: Kurt Caddy, director of University Ministries, will bring an encouraging word to students.

Wednesday, Aug. 30: Dr. Kelly Malone, professor of Intercultural Studies, will discuss the impact of the reformation on missions.

Wednesday, Sept. 6: The Center for Global Connections (CGC) will introduce students who will be going on global projects during the 2017 Fall semester, as well as the 2018 January and Spring terms, as part of Global Connections Week.

Monday, Sept. 11: The CGC will introduce teams going on global projects for the 2018 summer term. On Tuesday, Sept. 12, students can attend Global Fest in the Goodson Student Union to learn more about the CGC鈥檚 ministry opportunities.

Wednesday, Sept. 13: The CGC will highlight student testimonies with an opportunity for worship. The CGC will also present its Nations Award to one 欧美视频 staff member and one 欧美视频 alum for making a significant impact in missions and to the department. Matt Hofeld, an 欧美视频 ministry partner with Go In the Name Ministries, will share how students can get involved with short-term missions.

Wednesday, Sept. 20: Spirit Chapel is part of the 欧美视频 dorm competition, taking place during Homecoming week.

Friday, Sept. 22: Homecoming festivities continue with Honors Chapel, when certain alumni are honored for living lives of service.

Monday, Sept. 25: Neal DeShazo, president of Community Outreach Ministries, will share how students can get involved in local ministries. 

Wednesday, Sept. 27: Dr. Rodney Reeves, dean of The Courts Redford College of Theology and Ministry and professor of Biblical Studies, will present 鈥淲hat Luther got right (and wrong) about Paul.鈥

Monday, Oct. 2: Dr. Jodi Meadows, director of Dutile Honors Program and assistant professor of University Studies, will present 鈥淟uther鈥檚 Vision of Vocation and Calling.鈥

Wednesday, Oct. 4: Dr. Coyle Neal, assistant professor of political science, will discuss 鈥淲ho is this Luther?鈥

Monday, Oct. 9: Ken Wystma, a speaker sponsored by Compassion International, will present students with the opportunity to sponsor a child.

Wednesday, Oct. 11: Dr. Don Denton, professor of theology, will present 鈥淟uther and His 鈥榯heologia crucis.鈥欌   

Monday, Oct. 16: Barnabas Piper is the author of 鈥淭he Curious Christian: How Discovering Wonder Enriches Every Part of Life,鈥 and co-host of the 鈥淗appy Rant鈥 and 鈥5 Leadership Questions鈥 podcasts.

Wednesday, Oct. 18: Dr. Mike Fuhrman, chair of the department of Christian Ministry, will present 鈥淎 Few Hundred Words Concerning New Testament Election, with An Assist from Robert Burns.鈥

Monday, Oct. 23: Ryan Corn, singer/songwriter and recording artist, will share his music.

Wednesday, Oct. 25: Dr. Timothy Wood, professor of history, will discuss 鈥淭he Life and Times of Martin Luther.鈥

Monday, Oct. 30: Dr. Jeff Iorg, president of Gateway Baptist Theological Seminary, will speak on the relevance of the reformation.

Wednesday, Nov. 1: Dr. David Prince, professor at Southern Theological Seminary, will discuss the relevance of the reformation.

Monday, Nov. 6: Dr. Fred Foy Strang, missionary to West Africa, will present 鈥淭he Church Reformed 鈥 Always Reforming.鈥

Wednesday, Nov. 8: Di and Chi, contemporary Christian artists from Nashville, will share their music.

Monday, Nov. 13: Dr. Kevin Twit, with The Music of Reform, will speak on the importance of singing in the reformation.

Wednesday, Nov. 15: Matt Gaskin, a senior Christian ministries major, will lead praise and worship. 

Monday, Nov. 27: Cameron Anderson, an artist and director of Christians in Visual Arts, will present reformation in the visual arts.

Wednesday, Nov. 29: Dr. Allison Langford, associate provost for teaching and learning and associate professor of University Studies, will talk about how the reformation impacted education.

Monday, Dec. 4: This is an encore performance of the annual Festival of Christmas concert.

Wednesday, Dec. 6: Students will be commissioned for global projects through the Center for Global Connections at this service featuring worship with Zach Atchley and Nate Jones.
