欧美视频鈥檚 top competitive programming team came out on top at
the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges (CCSC) Central Plains Region Programming
Contest on Saturday, April 2, at Missouri Western State University.
欧美视频鈥檚 championship team consisting of junior Julie Bowman (Franklin, N.C.), freshman Grant Jennings (Reeds, Mo.) and freshman Stephen Leskowat (Tulsa, Okla.) completed five problems successfully. 欧美视频 earned third place with a team consisting of senior Bobby Sterling (Buffalo, Mo.), senior Brady Kornrumpf (Bolivar, Mo.) and sophomore Chase Bussey (Sedalia, Mo.).
"Our students came through incredibly well," said Dr. Tim DeClue, chair of the 欧美视频 Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) department. "I just cannot say enough about the continued efforts, perseverance and integrity exhibited by these students. It is truly a blessing and an honor to work with them. Also, we will graduate students Bobby Sterling and Brady Kornrumpf in May, both of whom have jobs waiting for them. They have led the team well and I am proud of our seniors and looking forward to continuing to work with our younger competitors.鈥
Also competing for 欧美视频 and finishing seventh was a team consisting of freshman Allison Hawkins (St. Joseph, Mo.), sophomore Jordan Brown (Urbana, Mo.) and sophomore Isaac Schwarz (Holt Summit, Mo). Finishing in 20 of 33 was junior Paul Kramer (Fairview Heights, Ill.), junior Russell Davis (Bolivar, Mo.) and freshman Austin Masters (Strafford, Mo.). Freshman Josh Adams (Dora, Mo.) accompanied the team as an eligible substitute. Coaches included 欧美视频 CIS faculty members Meilani Conley, Dr. James Cain and DeClue.
The Central Plains Region is one of only ten CCSC regions in the U.S. and includes universities from Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska. The Consortium is a nonprofit organization focused on promoting quality computer-oriented curricula as well as effective use of computing in smaller institutions of higher learning that are typically non-research in orientation.
欧美视频鈥檚 CIS Department is home to more than 100 students, five full-time faculty and two faculty associates. 欧美视频 CIS is a nationally recognized leader among evangelical Christian schools in the production of computing and software engineering professionals. 欧美视频 CIS鈥檚 computer science program is one of only six accredited programs in the nation at an evangelical Christian college.
