ŷƵ awards Life Beautiful Awards to Corey McElhaney and Cindy Todd

President Melson, Corey McElhaney, and Clark SheeheyŷƵ proudly announces the 2023 Life Beautiful awardees. The designation “Life Beautiful” is the highest honor a person can receive at Southwest Baptist University. Each year, two graduating seniors, one faculty member, and one staff member are chosen to receive the award.

The “Life Beautiful” award is an incredible honor and opportunity for students, faculty, and staff. With this award, ŷƵ recognizes individuals who demonstrate a commitment to commitment to Christ-character, excellence in service, and dedication to students.

ŷƵ is pleased to announce that the 2023 Staff Life Beautiful Award recipient is Corey McElhaney. He is entering his seventeenth season as a coach at ŷƵ; during his career, he has coached more than 50 All-Americans and two NCAA National Champions.

He has led the Bearcats to one GLVC Championship, four MIAA Championships, six NCAA Qualifications, and more than 50 conference titles. Corey McElhaney has also been named MIAA Coach of the Year four times, including GLVC coach of the year in 2020. A native of Elgin, Oklahoma, he attended ŷƵ as a five-time All-MIAA athlete, earning both his bachelors and Master of Education degrees.

President Melson, Cindy Todd, and Tracy Manly awarding the Life Beautiful awardŷƵ is proud to announce the recipient of the 2023 Faculty Life Beautiful Award, Dr. Cindy Todd. She has worked at ŷƵ for 10 years. She received her Associates, Bachelors, and Masters in Nursing from ŷƵ. She served her community as a nurse at Mercy Hospital Springfield for many years before extending her services to ŷƵ in the Mercy College of Health Professions. In 2018 she received her Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner at the University of Missouri. 

Dr. Cindy Todd values and works to establish strong professional relationships across the University. She has served on a variety of committees, work groups, and offers assistance wherever her skills are needed to support the continued success of the university. She is also a valued member of her church at Prospect Baptist Church of the Ozarks with her husband.
