欧美视频 Division of The Arts presentss Dr. Jonathan Sokasits

Dr. Jonathan Sokasits欧美视频 Division of The Arts and the William and Kathy Brown Guest Artist Series welcome guest artist and pianist Dr. Jonathan Sokasits. Dr. Sokastis will be joined by Dr. Robert Carney, piano, and Dr. Sarah Howes, soprano, in a recital at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 23, in Meyer Recital Hall on the Bolivar campus.

The program features a four-hand work for piano by Czech composer Karel Husa paired with pieces by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Schubert, and Sokasits. Jonathan Sokasits is a Professor of Piano at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. He has previously served as an Assistant Professor of Piano at Ithaca College and as an Instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Sokasits holds a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Applied Music from Ithaca College.

Dr. Sokasits has appeared as a soloist with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Festival Band, Hastings College Concert Band, Hastings Symphony Orchestra, UW-Madison Symphony Orchestra, Madison Chamber Players, Northwest Wind Symphony, and the Ithaca College Wind Ensemble, with whom he recorded Karel Husa鈥檚 Concertino for Piano and Wind Ensemble under the supervision of the composer (Apotheosis of This Earth: Music of Karel Husa for Wind Orchestra).

Dr. Sokasits is a regular presenter at state, regional, and national conventions of professional organizations such as the Music Teachers National Association and the College Music Society. Significant performances for Dr. Sokasits include a recital and master class tour to universities in New Zealand, presenting recitals of contemporary music by New Zealand and American composers; a lecture-recital on piano transcriptions at the Rhodes International Rachmaninoff Conference; and appearances as a featured recitalist, master class teacher, and adjudicator for the inaugural Be艧parmak International Piano Festival at Eastern Mediterranean University in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

This recital is presented with generous financial support from the William and Kathy Brown Guest Artist Series Fund.

The recital is free and open to the public.
