BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ Division of Arts & Humanities will host a guest artist and faculty chamber recital featuring Dr. David Hays on violin and Dr. Robert Carney on piano at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 10 in Meyer Recital Hall on the Bolivar campus.
The duo will perform works by American and British composers, which will be part of an album being recorded this summer.
The recital is free and open to the public.
Hays has served as Concertmaster of the Springfield Symphony since 2000 and Professor of Music (Violin) at Missouri State University since 1999, where he teaches applied violin, pedagogy and chamber music. In recent seasons, he has performed solo works by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Sarasate and Mozart with orchestra and has appeared in recitals in China, Singapore, Bulgaria, Colombia, New Orleans, Chicago and Minneapolis.
A graduate of Indiana University (BM) and Northwestern University (MM, DM), Hays completed his training with Blair Milton and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and has performed throughout the U.S., Poland, the Czech Republic and England.
Carney, associate professor of music at Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ, has performed solo recitals in Indiana, Nebraska, Tennessee, Illinois, Texas and Missouri, as well as concerto performances in Kansas City and Topeka.
