Area high school bands take home trophies from Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ Homecoming parade

Gainesville Marching Band performs in Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ Homecoming paradeBOLIVAR, Mo. â€” The Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ Area of Music hosted a band competition as part of the annual Homecoming parade on Oct. 2, through downtown Bolivar and the Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ campus.

Parade bands were judged on music, marching, auxiliary groups, drumline and drum major. At the conclusion of the parade, the bands heard a mini-concert by the Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Jeffery Waters, during the awards ceremony in Pike Auditorium.

Award winners included:

  • Class 2 first place â€“ Gainesville High School – Sherri Caraway, director
  • Class 2 second place â€“ Conway High School – Zack Hoar, director
  • Class 2 third place â€“ Mansfield High School – Levi Meadows, director
  • Class 3 first place â€“ Strafford High School – Rusty Lee, director
  • Best Auxiliary Group â€“ Strafford High School
  • Best Drum Major â€“ Mansfield High School
  • Best Drumline â€“ Mansfield High School
  • Outstanding Band of the Day â€“ Gainesville High School
