BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥 Coleman Yantis and Abigail Farris were announced as the 2021 Southwest Baptist University Homecoming King and Queen at halftime of the Bearcats鈥 football game against the University of Indianapolis on Oct. 2.
Students nominated five seniors as candidates for Homecoming King and five candidates for Homecoming Queen.
Coleman Yantis is a computer science major from Carl Junction. He is the son of Tanya
and Craig Yantis. After graduation, he plans to continue seeking leadership roles
in the software development industry and explore other hobbies such as content creation
in his free time.
鈥淭he honor of being 欧美视频 Homecoming King means a lot to me,鈥 Yantis said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a great reminder to me of all the friends I鈥檝e been blessed with here and how large of an influence 欧美视频 has had on me. I鈥檝e been coming to summer camps at 欧美视频 since middle school, so 欧美视频 holds a special place in my heart.
鈥淭he ways God has used 欧美视频 to shape me are still being revealed today, with this honor serving as just another reminder to all the blessings he has given me during my time here. I wouldn't be the person I am today without 欧美视频 and its amazing community, so I am extremely grateful and humbled by this weekend.鈥
Abigail Farris is an exercise science major from Rushville, Ill. She is the daughter of Heather and Tom Farris. After graduation, she plans to marry her fianc茅, Nate McKinley, in June, move to Pennsylvania and attend an occupational therapy assistant school in the fall.
鈥淏eing named this year's Homecoming Queen is such an honor because 欧美视频 is my second home,鈥 Farris said. 鈥淚 have grown so much here, and have made so many lifelong friendships. I am extremely grateful for my time here and thankful for my 欧美视频 family.鈥
King candidates
Nate McKinley is an economics/finance major from Collegeville, Pa. He is the son of Linda 鈥94 and David 鈥92 McKinley. After graduation, he plans to marry his fianc茅e, Abby Farris, move back to Pennsylvania and pursue a career in corporate finance.
Jacob Buckner is a vocal music education major from Fair Grove. He is the son of Elizabeth Zebel and Archie Buckner. After graduation, he plans to teach music and continue serving on church worship teams.
Quinn Nelson is a sport management major from Ozark. He is the son of Brenda and Greg Nelson. After graduation, he plans to pursue a master鈥檚 degree in sport administration.
Nicholas Schulte is a biomedical science major from Junction City, Kan. He is the son of Stacy and Scott Schulte. After graduation, he plans to attend dental school and eventually work in rural or underserved communities.
Queen candidates
Lindsey Applegate is a studio art major from Bolivar. She is the daughter of Susan and Mark Applegate. After graduation, she would love to continue working for Wonders of Wildlife in Springfield and eventually work her way toward the education department so she can share her fascination with 鈥渢he amazing world around us鈥 with the guests of the museum.
Carolyn Cates is an elementary education major from Lee鈥檚 Summit. She is the daughter of Janel and Dr. Thomas G. Cates III. After graduation, she plans to begin teaching elementary school in the Lee鈥檚 Summit area and eventually get her master鈥檚 degree in administration to become a principal.
Corynn Knight is a biology major from Bolivar. She is the daughter of Shawndee and Mike Knight. After graduation, she plans to attend a doctorate program focused on biomedical research, specializing in immunology and pathology.
Kailey Weiskopf is a biochemistry major from St. Louis. She is the daughter of Shelley and Chris Weiskopf. After graduation, she plans to go to medical school and become a doctor.
In addition, princes and princesses for the freshman, sophomore and junior classes were chosen by their peers.
Princes
David Nash is a freshman pre-medicine and music (vocal emphasis) major from Bloomfield, Iowa. He is the son of Charlene and Dr. Michael Nash.
Minh Dinh is a sophomore youth ministry major from West Plains. He is the son of Le Ho and Nghia Nguyen.
Nathan MacLaughlin is a junior accounting and finance major from Springfield. He is the son of Angela and Jeremy MacLaughlin 鈥92.
Princesses
Sara Francis is a freshman exercise science major from Farmington. She is the daughter of Lisa and Rob Francis.
Kaila Lloyd is a sophomore biomedical science major from Cold Springs, Calif. She is the daughter of Jennifer and Barry Lloyd.
Emma Dooley is a junior art education major from Kudjip, Papua New Guinea. She is the daughter of Gail and Scott Dooley.
