BOLIVAR, Mo. – Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ is pleased to announce several new faculty members for the 2019-2020 academic year. Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµâ€™s faculty is integral in the University’s mission to be a Christ-centered, caring academic community preparing students to be servant leaders in a global society.
Six faculty members new for the Fall 2019 semester include:
Savana Ayers is an instructor of nursing on the Springfield campus. She earned her
associate of science in nursing and bachelor of science in nursing degrees from Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ,
and her master of science in nursing from Western Governors University.
Nicole Helsel is an instructor of radiography on the Springfield campus. Helsel earned her B.S.
in radiologic science from Avila University.
Sarah Howes is an assistant professor of music on the Bolivar campus. Howes earned her B.A. in
vocal and piano performance from the University of Minnesota-Morris, and her M.M.
from Eastman School of Music, Rochester, N.Y., and currently is working on completing
a D.M.A. from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis.
Lacey Jones is an instructor of athletic training. Jones earned her B.S. in athletic training
from Fort Hays State and her M.S. in sports management from Southwestern Oklahoma
State University.
Austin Kuhl is an instructor of athletic training. He earned his B.S. in athletic
training from the University of Evansville (Ind.), and currently is working on completing
his M.S. in athletic training from Missouri State University.
Dr. Delong Meng is an assistant professor of business administration. Meng earned
his B.S. in mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his PhD in
economics from Leland Stanford Jr. University.
Gina Whitehead will be a full-time instructor of kinesiology this fall. Whitehead, who previously
was a part-time instructor at Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ, earned her B.S.E. in kinesiology from the University
of Arkansas and her M.S. in sport management from Indiana University.
In addition, five more faculty members joined the Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ community during the Spring
2019 semester:
Courtney Smith is an instructor of nursing on the Salem campus. She earned her associate of allied
science in nursing degree from East Central College in Union, Mo., and her bachelor
of science in nursing from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City.
Dr. Amos Gichamba is an assistant professor of computer science on the Bolivar campus. Gichamba earned
his B.S. in computer science from Africa Nazarene University, M.S. in information
technology from Strathmore University and his Ph.D. in information systems from University
of Nairobi.
Julie Wilken is the learning resource and simulation coordinator in the Don and Carrie Babb Department
of Nursing on the Bolivar campus. Wilken earned her BSN from Cox College of Nursing,
and her M.S.N. from Western Governor’s University.
Mitch Yung is an assistant professor of art. Yung earned his B.F.A. from Kansas State
University and his M.F.A. in ceramics from Arizona State University.
Tamara Boyd is an instructor of nursing on the Springfield campus. Boyd earned her B.S. in biology
with an emphasis in organic chemistry from Lewis-Clark State College and her BSN from
Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ.
