Area high school bands take home trophies from Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ Homecoming parade

Band members playing instruments in Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ paradeBOLIVAR, Mo. — The Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ department of music hosted a band competition as part of the annual Homecoming parade on Oct. 19, 2019, through downtown Bolivar and the Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ campus.

Parade bands were judged on music, marching, auxiliary groups, drumline and drum major. At the conclusion of the parade, the Å·ÃÀÊÓÆµ Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Jeffery Waters, presented a mini-concert for the band participants during the awards ceremony in Pike Auditorium.

Award winners included:

First place – Mansfield High School – Levi Meadows, director
Second place – Fordland High School – Shawn Vomund, director
Third place – Gainesville High School – Sherri Caraway, director
Best Auxiliary Group – Fordland High School
Best Drum Major – Mansfield High School
Best Drumline – Marion C. Early High School, Eric Schrantz, director
Outstanding Band of the Day – Mansfield High School
