欧美视频 Honors Program students present capstone projects

欧美视频's Dutile Honors Program students present their Senior Capstone Experience projects.Nine students in 欧美视频鈥檚 Gordon & Judy Dutile Honors Program presented their Senior Honors Capstone Experience projects during an open house May 9.

鈥淚t is the mission of the Dutile Honors Program to serve high-ability students in a manner that promotes healthy development and personal growth,鈥 said Dr. Jodi Meadows, director of the Dutile Honors Program. 鈥淭he capstone experience does just that in providing students an opportunity to be both challenged and supported as autonomous and self-directed learners. The process of the capstone projects is as valuable as the products.鈥

Students are admitted to the Dutile Honors Program before their freshman year through a competitive process. The program includes nine honors-specific courses designed to provide scholastic enrichment and opportunities for practical application and professional development; honors colloquium for sophomores and juniors; and the Senior Honors Capstone Experience that allows students to complete a project or research in the student鈥檚 field of study, including the integration of faith and discipline.

Students who presented projects are:

  • Ilene Adair of Overland Park, Kan., presented 鈥淭he Alzheimer鈥檚 Mind on Music: An Exploration into the Science of Memory and the Effects of Music Therapy.鈥 She is the daughter of Mike and Laura Adair.
  • Stefani Baker of Joplin presented 鈥淢achine Learning Techniques Utilized in Higher Education Administration.鈥 She is the daughter of Kirk and Kristi Baker.
  • Shelby Kurz of Basehor, Kan., presented 鈥淎 Virtue Ethics Approach to Environmentalism.鈥 She is the daughter of Kim and Debbie Barta.
  • Ruthie Carpenter of Columbia presented 鈥淗arvesting Health.鈥 She is the daughter of Mark and Carolyn Carpenter.
  • Morgan Henderson Campbell of Louisburg presented 鈥淎nalysis of the Relationship Between Colorectal Cancer and the Gut Microbiome.鈥 She is the daughter of Richard and Lisa Henderson.
  • Joshua Reisner of Tulsa presented 鈥淭he Role of Faith in the Physical Rehabilitation of the Chronically Ill.鈥 He is the son of William and Lori Reisner.
  • Isabela Schwarz of Holts Summit presented 鈥淭he LORD will surely (not) exclude me from His people: An exploration of Self-Determined Nationality in the Old Testament.鈥 She is the daughter of Mark and Kursten Schwarz.
  • Rocky Walker of Charleston, presented 鈥淏ride or Beast: Seeing the American Church through the Revelation of John.鈥 He is the son of Rocky and Jamie Walker.
  • Kayla Windes of Springfield presented 鈥淢edical Mystery: Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Research Paper.鈥 She is the daughter of Richard and Carrie Windes.
  • Dylan Pich of Union presented 鈥淰illage Suite: A Wind Symphony Composition,鈥 during the fall semester. He is the son of Teresa and Billy Pich.

The Dutile Honors Program started during the fall 2005 semester and now has 174 graduates.
